I am looking to get a video camera to start shooting serious films (recording audio, editing, getting actors and crew) but Im just starting out and dont really know where to begin. What would be the best camera to shoot short films for around $1000? Thanks.

Get on eBay and try to find a Canon XL2 for $1000 or less.

Particularly cheap, but excellent quality video camera. Must record good quality footage and audio. Still picture feature is not a must, but a plus.

Quality compatible with YouTube is a must, and something that would fit the strange box YT has for videos would be cool, but definitely not necessary.

And, like I said, cheap.

Suggestions?

I'd say get a Canon camera or that one that Ashton Kutcher is showing around on TV commercials.

Go to BestBuy.com and other electronic stores to look at models, find out which have the best reviews.
Then go look for that cam on amazon.
