They have always been obnoxious pieces of crap, but over the last six months I have really decided I want to take some sort of action against them. There are 3 boys between 12-15 and are totally unsupervised despite the fact that their mother is home 24/7. The last six months of my pregnancy I was called slag, whore, slut, as well as other much more foul names. I was told that I love @#$% and was asked by the oldest one if I wanted to perform a sex act on him. (My words not his). I've talked to the parents but not only did they do nothing, they called me racist (they're Muslim) and claimed I'm making up lies to run them out of the neighborhood. I called the police after the 12 year old spit at me while I was putting my daughter in the car, and again last month when I caught the 15 year old peeping into my bedroom window. The second time the police were contacted the father came over and pounded on my door threatening me, and so I called the police again. For some reason NOTHING gets done even by the police. My husband has been away for the last seven months for work and for some reason, the harassment has become worse. What should I do? I'm one step away from hiring a bunch of 15 year old boys to come kick the crap out of them.

Next door there is a teenage girl. She is really pretty and sweet, she helps our four year old ride her bike and I always see her doing chores for her step mom. The dad is a very good man and the step mom seems sweet and very well dressed/clean/hard working and stuff.

The teenage girl runs away from home every now and again and skips school ALOT (I know because the step mom talks about her alot. From what the (supposedly sweet) step mom said, the girl - jen- has been trhough alot, her mom and brother died in a car crash when she was 9. The step mom - christy- says she does everything for this girl yadaya blahblah.

So once in a while I hear screaming from the house. A month ago this girl was standing on the front porch in her bra and underwear with makeup smeared all over her face and body. I ran over with a blanket and covered her and asked her what happened she says "I got caught wearing lipstick and my stepmom beat me and smeared this all over me and locked the door" I cried with her and offered to call the cops...she begged me not to, she says she has called the cops and they dont believe her because christy is so perfect and the girl has a record -- running away and skipping school, shop lifting food so she can eat etc. She even went to counselors at school, cps....Nobody will help her.

I asked her to tell me what other things go on when I hear her screaming. She says last week chris held her down and tried to shave her head as a punishment for not brushing her hair. Sometimes she gets hit. Chris calls her dead mother a whore and took away the only things she had from her mother ( a teddy bear from the hospital and a heart shaped pillow) chris ripped these things up the day after her mom died. The mental abuse is horrible...another story she told me was that she took her dog for a walk and a loose pit bull came out of nowhere and bit the dogs leg...her step mom put a gun to the dogs head and threatened to shoot it...apparently that happened when she was about 9.

She tells her dad all the time but when he comes home chris is always so nice, the perfect mom. Most of the time when I see chris and jen they look like mother and daughter, laughing and shopping...But those screams I hear sometimes make my soul cry...I sit in my room and cry. I asked my husband what to do but he said its too complicated.

set up a video recorder and catch the mayhem in the act.....or at least advise the girl to attempt it on the inside. Or just have her use a cell phone or digital camera on record and put it in an obscure spot. Don't even need to get video, I'm sure the conversation will be interesting enough. Tell her to build up a case, don't just run to pops with one recording. Record as many interesting screnarios as possible unless it's becoming too unbearable. Cause if the dad is too passive, he may regard it as just a one time deal. But the more crap that is shown, it may show how serious it is. And make sure that when showing the pops...it's in secrecy and not in front of Chris....don't want to let her get wise as to what is happening.

And if some solid evidence is gathered and Pops is still in denial. I'm sure some legal action with the evidence will straighten some people out.

Video recording therapy?

I once heard that video recording yourself was good therapy.
Like video blogging, I guess, but to yourself.

Does anyone know anything about this?
Can anyone give any type of information on this?

When I was a teenager in high school I bought an 8mm movie camera and projector with my summer wages. I recorded on film many of my siblings and classmates at play and "acting" (silly) and was recorded in turn by them. It was not so therapeutic in a mental health sense then as we just got a lot of enjoyment and laughs out of the exercise. But in later years it has been therapeutic in a different sense.

In my 30's one saw how silly one really was as a "fooling around" teen and it helped to mature one. But in old age it is therapeutic in a different way in that one sees how children in general develop, how "stuffy" old people can be and results in a nostalgia to be that young, optimistic and carefree again.

i defintalty dont want to be video taped..ive seen pictures of woman who are in labor..they aren't happy, they aren't pretty, a few pictures should be just fine for me...but i do kno that people keep video cameras around for the next day at teh hospital when mom has calmed down and the baby has started looking less like an alien lol..but whatever you are comfertable with...

I'm not sure if I should get the Flip camcorder UltraHD or MinoHD. I want a camera to record all of my children's memories, but I can't decide which one. I want it small, but does the Mino have worse quality, or is the quality the same?

Hello, i think this is more of an american trend than an english one but did anyone video recor their childs birth? If so where you comfortable watching it back? i mean its not something you want to put on whilst eating your dinner haha : ) i dont think i could do it personally. thanks x

there is no chance of a video! i wouldn't even allow the camera in the labour ward! Leave the camera in the general ward thanks, i'll get photos once we are all cleaned and dressed! i couldn't bare it!

at the antenatal classes they kept putting on birth videos - i'd gag and have to leave the room nearly vomiting on my own shoes. I could not stomach the images.

Then during my labour the nurse must have picked up on my inabililty to handle the images of down there during birth, she joked to me "i'm guessing you don't want a mirror then?" and we had a good laugh. Apparently there are many mothers out there like me who feel sick at the image of birth - but who are keen on natural labour so long as they don't have to see anything!

Can he bring a video camera to the child exchange?

Hi I'm going through a divorce right now and my ex has visitation with our 2 year old daughter on Tuesday and Thursday 5pm to 8pm and every other weekend from Saturday 9am to Sunday 7pm. I have a Domestic Violence Protection Order against him and he's not allowed within 100yards of me. But because of the visitation we meet in a public place which is the Wal-mart lobby area to do the exchange and I am allowed to bring someone with me.

Thing is I asked my lawyer if I could bring a video camera or tape recorder to record him in case he says anything bad to me, or intimidating, or anything that doesn't have to do with our daughter and the child visitation. She told me no that video taping or recording any part of the exchange is illegal and I can get in serious trouble for it.

So today my ex and his father came to the exchange and waited in the lobby area. His father recorded me getting out of the car and walking all the way into the Wal-mart and continued to record me during the whole exchange and I advised him that any type of recording device is not allowed during the child exchange.

Am I right? What are the rules about recording devices in that situation?
Maybe I should add that he is abusive! And he has assaulted me and my daughter recently but it's still under investigation (videotapes from WalMart have been sent to be examined). He has violated the DVPO many times. The police are doing nothing. He does not care about his daughter and is JUST trying to keep control over me by trying to fight for custody. He's trying to distract the courts by claiming I'm in contempt of court because I'm usually an hour or more late to the visits or I don't show up at all. It's a lie. I'm always no more than 5 minutes late because I walk or take public transportation.

So if I could just get the rules on recording devices during this situation that would be appreciated.
I wanted a recording device to be safe if he tries to assault me again. He's bringing it to intimidate me and screw up the times so it looks like I am late when I am not. I am not being immature at all, I resent your accusations.

Hi! I understand and feel for you %110. Your very best thing to do is to let your lawyer know that he was taping you and that you thought that that was not legal. See what they have to say about it. The thing is that no judge is going to sit and watch a video like that and judge the hand off. Do your best. Act like a lady. If they are taping you smile and wave nicely as if your own parent were taping you. Have your daughter look at the camera and say "Hi Grandma!" Smile and be nice. Do have someone with you at the drop off. Play by the rules and do your best. Keep a documentation journal and write everything down. Rules or no rules about recording devices....I think what is best here is focusing on what you are both doing for your daughter and make sure what she sees is positive. I went through 10 years of this crap....I survived. You will too. So will your daughter. Bring with you afriend or family member and be sweet as honey. Once the custody stuff is over he will calm down. and most likely ignore both of you. Good luck and make sure you talk to your lawyer about it and do what they tell you to!

Not to mention, but the computer you upload your HD files to jas to have at least a 1 GB video card and a separate Audio card that can support Direct X 9 technology, you normal every day computer has massive troubles with HD video. Consumer level HD camcorders interpolate the video. This means they take one frame, make up the next 4 or 5 frames, take a frame and repeat this, over and over, for the remainder of the video, every video it takes is like this. With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a MIC jack. You will need a Firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a Firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $250 Canon MiniDV tape camcorder.

Video camera and Editing software?

I want to record videos of my children, and turn them into short little films for the family, as though we were watching real movies.

I don't yet have software, or a video camera to do this, and I was hoping to get some suggestions.

The computer I have has Windows Vista. I'm also looking for something that records digitally, if that is possible.

Things you should know about how to download all types of camcorders.
Mini dv camcorders require a firewire connection, most computers do not come with one.
Minidvd have the worst quality, in order to get the video onto your computer, the minidvd must be finalized in the camcorder and then put in a top loading dvd burner and then converted. http://www.handbrake.fr/ free download
If you have a flash drive camcorder, you can download with a usb cord and supplied software or you can use an external usb card reader.
If you have a hard drive camcorder you can download with the supplied usb cord.

Once you decide what kind of camcorder you want, then don't skimp on software. Windows Movie Maker is free but not all file types work with it.

I will bet that over 90% of the people with digital cameras, video cameras, and even cell phones have no idea on how to change any settings. I had a friend who thought his video camera was broken because it would not keep recording when he took his finger off the button. One of his children had changed the setting. How many people with 8 mega pixel cameras leave it at the highest setting and only view pictures on their computer. How many people with satellite tv scan through every channel in the directory because they have no idea you can set favorites. I can go on forever.

80-90% easy. If i had the time, I'd find you a bunch of articles and research that I have read recently about this phenomenon..

basically, when a company is looking to improve a product, they go about surveying and testing what their consumers "want" in a product..

not in context, on a piece of paper.. of course you're going to say, "yeah I want the ability to start my washing machine and defrost my car from my video camera." In practice, of course, no one would ever use such features.. the end result is a junked up consumer interface full of stuff that (while functional) serves little purpose to the common consumer outside of showing off gadgets to your neighbor, good reviews in consumer reports, and bells and whistles for salespeople.

Can someone audio tape you without your knowledge?

My teenage child and I live with a roommate. My roommate owns the place where we live. Today I found a surveillance camera hidden in a window in the home. The camera records audio and video. I know that in Ohio, only one person involved in a conversation has to give consent to record. However, this camera was recording even when the roommate was not at home. Is it legal for him to record conversations that I have with other people when he is not at home? I feel very violated and disrespected.

No because it is his home, but it also depends on where the device is located. If it is in the bathroom or your bedrooms then that would be considered invasion of privacy. If it is in a common area no, it could be considered for security cam.
You need to ask him about it, he may just be trying to keep his home secure from theft and or damages. You got to ask him....

How do I compress or make a file of a family movie smaller to be used to attach and send through email?

Q. I have a small videos of my children that I took with my kodak easy share digital camera, one is 38 seconds and the other is 45 seconds long. My mom lives in another country and I haven't seen her in seven years and she had moved away before I met and married my husband and had babies (now 3yr old and 1yr old). Because she has never seen my babies I'm always emailing pics that I took with my new kodak easy share camera...I noticed just a few days ago that I could also record my children on it like a video camera but with no sound. I tried emailing them as attachments but on both my yahoo and msn emails, they only attach a max. of 10 mb and even though these are small videos they are like 11 - 13 mb so I'm wondering if there is a way to make them smaller, please, so that my mom can see her grandbabies for the first time moving around playing, instead of being still in a picture.

I think you can right click the folder then compress into a zip or rar file....the other person has to have the proper program to run it though. I may be wrong on this though....

My husband is deploying to Afghanistan, I have small children and would like to purchase a set of video cameras so that I can video the kids and and he can video small clips through the day to send us later when he has internet access. Thanks for any advice! Again I would like to reiterate that it needs to be affordable with decent quality! and miniature so it's not a pain to carry around!

If you're just looking for "little" clips to send back and forth, then I suggest either a Flip or Bloggie. We just caught our neighbor sitting outside on his property with a video camera taping us through the fence we share. We are on our property and we like to sit in the backyard and talk. My boyfriend's father noticed it first and came to ask if we saw the same thing. My boyfriend confronted the guy and asked if there was anything we can do for him and why he had a video camera on his lap pointed at us. He said "no, and its pointed and his fence". I have a small child in the house and am afraid now to go outside or let him out. I don't want a creep to have my child on camera. Is what the neighbor doing illegal? Should I call the cops?

Go to the police and discuss this with them.

Ideally they will advise you to get a restraining order against the neighbor, but you have to go to court for this.

The next time you sit in your yard, if you see him pointing a video camera towards you again call the police and have someone meet the officer at the front door and bring the officer into the back yard and to the fence.

Get your own video camera so you can record this guy while he records you.

I will bet that over 90% of the people with digital cameras, video cameras, and even cell phones have no idea on how to change any settings. I had a friend who thought his video camera was broken because it would not keep recording when he took his finger off the button. One of his children had changed the setting. How many people with 8 mega pixel cameras leave it at the highest setting and only view pictures on their computer. How many people with satellite tv scan through every channel in the directory because they have no idea you can set favorites. I can go on forever.

basically, when a company is looking to improve a product, they go about surveying and testing what their consumers "want" in a product..

not in context, on a piece of paper.. of course you're going to say, "yeah I want the ability to start my washing machine and defrost my car from my video camera." In practice, of course, no one would ever use such features.. the end result is a junked up consumer interface full of stuff that (while functional) serves little purpose to the common consumer outside of showing off gadgets to your neighbor, good reviews in consumer reports, and bells and whistles for salespeople.

Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes – four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video. Not to mention, but the computer you upload your HD files to jas to have at least a 1 GB video card and a separate Audio card that can support Direct X 9 technology, you normal every day computer has massive troubles with HD video. Consumer level HD camcorders interpolate the video. This means they take one frame, make up the next 4 or 5 frames, take a frame and repeat this, over and over, for the remainder of the video, every video it takes is like this. I really like the cameras that can take pictures, and record videos with sound, but look like a regular digital camera. I want one that you can easily rewiew the videos you made (and pictures). I know most of them are expensive, like my friend has one and it's exactly what I want, except it was $150, but I will just have to save up my money for one. I have a mini child's camcorder already, but it's weird and cheap and barley works. Thanks!

I know you can take a small handycam/vid camera inside the Browns stadium, I wonder if that holds true for Cavs games too?

As long as you were not in a public place menacing people then you should be fine. It's public exposure that the police and judges crack down on.

Besides, think about this, what are the chances anyone was even looking or will look at the tape. Cameras are on 24/7. It takes a lot of manpower to sit and review those tapes. If no one in person saw you then I wouldn't worry. The police go after those who are harming others and you harmed no one if no one saw you.

Some states have wiretap laws that require both parties that are being recorded to give their consent to be recorded. This applies to audio but not to video. If the woman was audiotaping you without consent and not acting as a law enforcement officer with a warrant then she may have committed a crime. This could be a little fuzzy if the event occurred in a public place. If this was in your home then you have a much more solid case of you being a victim of illegal wiretapping. Keep in mind that making threats is also illegal and pointing a gun in some states is considered an assault, so the video could show criminal activity on the part of the baby daddy.
Flipping out in general is not a crime, threatening language and illegal wiretapping are. They have a lot more to loose than you do.

On a personal note, it's never a good idea to have children with people you aren't married too. It is incredible the amount of trouble this can cause to both the parents and children, studies have shown that children born out of wedlock are much more likely to end up in poverty and be incarcerated.

If you're just looking for "little" clips to send back and forth, then I suggest either a Flip or Bloggie. The Mino series, for Flip, is slim and light weight, and I believe most of them have 720p capabilities. They record for an hour, or so, worth of filming. The Ultra series, for Flip, is a little bulkier, but records for two hours. The Flip features a USB arm, that "flips" out of the camera and allows for data transfer to the computer to allow a user to send video, and such.

The "Bloggie" series, by Sony, is a slim, lightweight camera that allows a user to record video AND takes still pictures (Even while recording video). There are two versions of the "Bloggie" camera that may interest you. The "Bloggie Touch" is the more advanced, and newer, version that released recently. The image capture is rated at 12.8 megapixels, and the recording capability is 1080p (Albeit, the larger the video, the longer it'll take to send. However, you can switch between 1080p, 720p and 200-something, which is a lightweight video). There's an older version of the "Bloggie" that does the same as the touch, but only captures 5 Megapixel still photos, but it's a little cheaper.

The Flip will run you around 120 - 200 dollars, depending on the model you purchase. The Bloggie will run you around 120 - 160, or so, dollars. Both cameras have around a 2 hour recording time, and the only big difference is the quality they record in, and the ability to take stills. Both are great for "pocket cameras."

As long as you were not in a public place menacing people then you should be fine. It's public exposure that the police and judges crack down on.

Besides, think about this, what are the chances anyone was even looking or will look at the tape. Cameras are on 24/7. It takes a lot of manpower to sit and review those tapes. If no one in person saw you then I wouldn't worry. The police go after those who are harming others and you harmed no one if no one saw you.
