What are some goog cameras to film dance videos?

Jj

Hello! Im a Dancer.. I do hip hop (new style)... Yes a girl and im on the look for a good camera for these types of things... Im in the process of starting a project.. A dance film with my crew.. And i wanted to know what are some good cameras that can film and give it that good quality that i want.. For example: YAK Films has some of the sickest clips.. Can i achieve this quality? Any suggestions? Thank you

Answer
Low compression video capture and storage. No AVCHD compression. DV/HDV, DVCPro HD, EXF file formats are useful.

Looks like YAK use dSLRs. Since you don't know about them, check the usual suspects from Canon, Nikon and Sony. They can overheat when used for log periods of video capture. It is prudent to have two - Use one while the other cools down. Later, when whomever is using the camera gets good, use them both at the same time - one for a close-up, the other for the wide shot. Use a tripod or other steadying device - don't capture handheld.

You may need a computer upgrade. FAST CPU, 8 gig RAM or more and LOTS of external hard drive space for the video project files. And a decent video editor. Final Cut, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere - there are others.

There is no single best lens. It depends what you need for the sequence being captured.

You will also want:
Cables, lighting, mics (there is no single best mic - Audio Technica and Sennheiser should be on the short list), cases, maybe a camera crane to get things interesting (check Kessler), shock mount, boom pole, monitors... there's lots more, but learning's the fun part...

Clarification: There is no *film* involved with digital video capture. If you want to capture to film, those cameras get expensive and do not record any audio at all, so synching with music has its own special requirements. Panavision, Arri and many others make film cameras. They start at about $100,000 and the lenses cost more.

Best camera to record my Dancing?

Junior

I'm Looking for a camcorder thats Pretty much High Detailed enough to record my Dance covers, and etc. Any Suggestions?

Answer
"Best" and no budget? Nice.

I'd probably do something like a 3-camera set-up using three Sony HVR-Z7 camcorders. The accessories, lights, steadying devices, mics, audio recording subsystem, headset communications system, video mixer and other stuff would make for a nice portable studio and come in at around $100,000.

If that is too much, then two Sony HDR-FX1000, good tripod and accessories for around $8,000.

If that is too much, then a Canon HV40, good tripod and accessories for around $1,800.

Anything less than this and you are forced to use high compression consumer grade AVCHD which can cause problems because high compression video and fast action don't get along too well. It *might* be "good enough" for your needs. But if this is the budget, then Something from the Canon HF M series. And I hope your computer does not need upgrading to deal with the AVCHD video.

What is a good video camera for v-logs/dances?

:O

I am part of a dancing group and I am in need for a camera. I'm looking for a camera with good zoom, lighting, audio recording, and video quality.... also it wouldn't hurt if it was cheap...

Answer
Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video. Consumer level HD camcorders interpolate the video. This means they take one frame, make up the next 4 or 5 frames, take a frame and repeat this, over and over, for the remainder of the video, every video it takes is like this. With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes.

You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You will need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. It would cost in excess of $3500 to get a HD camcorder that could equal the video Quality of a $250 Canon MiniDV tape camcorder.

Video Camera for Dance Performance?

Chris

I would like to get a video camera that will be able to record dance performances (aka bright stage lights, low light in rest of environment) I have had trouble in the past with graininess in the picture and people becoming bright and ghost-like. What is a good camera that will not do this and represent it more truthfully to how it actually appears. Also, I have a macbook and don't know if it will take the mini-discs when I try to upload them. Would a Flip-Video work well?

Answer
I like my Flip for it's low light ability. It's certainly not a professional camera but it does a pretty good job. I record dance lessons with it.

Can you record video on Kinect, as if it were a normal Video Camera?

Q. I was wondering if you can record video on Kinect, of you like dancing, or running around or something, and maybe it saves on the xBox, that you can play back?

Like as if it were a normal camera. Is there a way..?
I don't need it for YouTube or anything, just for playback to watch later.

Answer
Certain games have a record functionality, and there is video chat, but nothing so far to just record your self.

How to make recorded videos with different camera angles together for free?

Neil G

Like I recorded a dance and one of my camera was on the right side and the other was on the left how do i combine both recorded videos?

Answer
The one free multitrack video editor I'm familiar with is this one:
Lightworks http://www.lightworksbeta.com/

Haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a shot. Make sure you keep backup copies of your videos.

In the video editor, you put each video clip in its own track. You should be able to find some way to verify that the tracks are synchronized (e.g. lowering opacity on upper track, using split screen) by looking for things like camera flashes, impacts, or other things you would only see for one video frame (1/30â1/60th of a second, depending on format). You can then use transitions or set keyframes for opacity to dissolve between the two viewpoints.

If you recorded the audio separately, you'll need to synchronize the audio as well. If the audio on one of the video clips is of sufficient quality, you can use that instead.

Answer
Recording the event is not a problem, BUT you have to sync the two cameras, or its going to be a nightmare, personally I would start the cameras at the same time and leave them running, at the start make a loud noise like they do with the old clapper boards. this will give you a spike in the audio on both cameras then you know where to sync them.

maybe have one camera static and the other moving about, two static cameras are as boring as one really. Once you have finished your filming put the video onto your computer and open your editing software, windows movie maker is not up to it. so get something that has multiple time lines, add them both and sync them, using that peak in the audio.

simply it goes what ever you take out of one time line it must add up exactly to the part used in the other, if not you will be out of sync again. say you use 8.34 seconds you need to cut 8.34 seconds out of the other track.

Now you need audio, taking the audio from one camera then using the other camera will not work the audio played back will at least be disgusting. so using another audio source (the master) providing its central to the video. when played back it will sound right, if you use this method then you have to add the clap to this when you sync the videos.

Software, well its not going to take you that long to edit the video (depending its not to long) so get a trial version of adobe premere CS4 /5 and use that, you will be able to do basically what you want. or if you are brave http://www.lightworksbeta.com/ it has a really steep learning curve, but it will do everything you will ever want it to, and its free. but not easy to use.

I use a Canon ZR930 to shoot the videos, then run the videos through Pinnacle Studio 14 HD Ultimate. I edit and make a 1080P file for upload to youtube. This is what I get http://youtu.be/njvi5det1Xs The Microphone you see in the video is an Apex 750. The audio goes through an Alto L-6 mixer, then stereo out to a smaller mixer then on to the MIC port on the camcorder, all these things can be seen here - http://asimplelife.ca/boss.html. This will give you an idea of what can be achieved with a Canon MiniDV tape camcorder. To be exact, all videos on my youtube channel have been shot by either a Canon ZR930, ZR800 or a ZR500.

Answer
I have a cheap little sanyo that my parents got me that is a point and shoot camera that does hd video up to 620i and it was under 100 and the videos come out pretty good. I use my good Nikon for longer videos and I also have a little video only camera that looks like an ipod and probably cost around $50 that also works well. So my suggestion is go to walmart or kmart and pick up a point and shoot that does video and you should be covered.

What kind of video camera would be good for dancing videos and not get all blurry?

I just need a camera that has good quality, can upload onto a computer & still have that good quality, & to be under $500. I'm gonna use it to record dances so it needs to be able to not get all fuzzy with the music & keep up so it won't get blurry. Any ideas or comments on anything, please :]

one with good frame rate (low blur) is $800

I recorded a public event sponsored by the dance studio where my twin 9year old grandchildren take dance lessons. They put on a free preview in the parking lot and everybody was joining in the street dance. I took video camera and recorded it. YouTube blocked it and said I violated copyright laws. The music they danced to was from a DJ or some recording??? The music is not even mentioned in the video

Answer
Yes. The music is copyrighted. Copyright is not a crime for which the state will punish you, but individuals can sue over a lot of intellectual property. I'm going to include a source in this post to give you an idea of how many nit-picky copyright laws there really are. You can register the name of your band, company, an idea you have a patent, many things... It's not legal what you did, but the law is strict and sometimes ridiculous. When you look at whether the law/rules are fair, there's a wide gulf of difference between filming grandchildren and posting recordings of new movies still in theatres. But YouTube doesn't want to take the risk with either one.

What is a good video camera for me?

Cyber

I'm 17 and I need a video camera mostly to just record myself doing hooping, which is just like hula hooping but more professional where you do tricks and dances with it. I thought about just going to WalMart and buying one I could afford if they had reasonable ones, but I'm not sure because I want to be able to upload the videos to youtube so others can give me advice on things to work on and see how I progress.

Any ideas on one I should get? Or should I just skip walmart all together and go to like a store like Best Buy that mainly sells video cameras and technology?

Answer
If you just want to record yourself doing hooping etc, i think you dont need a professional camera.
Try to buy a normal digital camera which suits your budget.
have a look at this site where they sell quality assured chinese electronic gadgets. Have a look

Answer
Best Buy online has a bunch on sale right now in the $100 range that record straight to flash memory.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=pcat17080&type=page&qp=crootcategoryid%23%23-1%23%23-1~~q70726f63657373696e6774696d653a3e313930302d30312d3031~~cabcat0400000%23%230%23%23dh~~cabcat0403000%23%230%23%231j~~nf408%7C%7C243530202d202439392e3939&list=y&nrp=15&sc=abCameraCamcorderSP&sp=%2Bbrand+skuid&usc=abcat0400000

The other way to go is to use a webcam and capture straight from youtube (but this usually looks pretty jittery if you are making fast movements).

I am looking for a cheap camera to record myself dancing. Any suggestions?
