I recorded a public event sponsored by the dance studio where my twin 9year old grandchildren take dance lessons. They put on a free preview in the parking lot and everybody was joining in the street dance. I took video camera and recorded it. YouTube blocked it and said I violated copyright laws. The music they danced to was from a DJ or some recording??? The music is not even mentioned in the video

Answer
Yes. The music is copyrighted. Copyright is not a crime for which the state will punish you, but individuals can sue over a lot of intellectual property. I'm going to include a source in this post to give you an idea of how many nit-picky copyright laws there really are. You can register the name of your band, company, an idea you have a patent, many things... It's not legal what you did, but the law is strict and sometimes ridiculous. When you look at whether the law/rules are fair, there's a wide gulf of difference between filming grandchildren and posting recordings of new movies still in theatres. But YouTube doesn't want to take the risk with either one.

What is a good video camera for me?

I'm 17 and I need a video camera mostly to just record myself doing hooping, which is just like hula hooping but more professional where you do tricks and dances with it. I thought about just going to WalMart and buying one I could afford if they had reasonable ones, but I'm not sure because I want to be able to upload the videos to youtube so others can give me advice on things to work on and see how I progress.

Any ideas on one I should get? Or should I just skip walmart all together and go to like a store like Best Buy that mainly sells video cameras and technology?

Answer
If you just want to record yourself doing hooping etc, i think you dont need a professional camera.
Try to buy a normal digital camera which suits your budget.
have a look at this site where they sell quality assured chinese electronic gadgets. Have a look
