Answer
What kind of video camera do you have?

If you have dvd type or Hard disk, normally when you upload it to your computer, youtube can open that. You do this by pressing upload, and find the stuff you uploaded from your video camera.

Unless you mini dv tapes. You have to open windows movie maker or any video editing software. Press capture from video device or something similar. On the camera, when you play, rewind until you find the parts you want to transfer to the computer. Then when you press capture from video device, record from camera, etcetera, as different programs say different things.

The upload to youtube is the same, but if you have minidv. You have to wait until the capture has finished and, wait until it's saved on your computer.

Then like with the first paragraph, press upload on youtube, and click the video you just saved on the PC.

Hopefully that helps

*To the user above me, it depends on the camera* With mine, when I've recorded. I have to capture using a video editing software. If it was DVD, or Hard disk where you can transfer, then fine. But if the person had a minidv camera, normally you have to capture using Movie Maker or any video software, because you cant transfer because the information is stored on tapes. So transferring them is harder

Cameras for youtube music videos...?

Prince of

So I used to make solo music videos for youtube using my webcam. But now i've got myself into a band and we want to start making videos together. But we don't want to keep the same bad quality videos as I used to make. Basically we don't know what kind of camera to get. Preferably it would be HD. And obviously it would need to be of decent sound quality. We also are reasonably skint and although we could save for a bit we want to do this quite quickly so we don't want to have to spend to much. Anyone know of anything, thanks :).

Answer
If you already have a digital camcorder (one that captures in Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, or any of the DVD formats), then you're ready to start shooting your masterpiece. Your camcorder will need some kind of direct connection to your computer, either to the USB or FireWire ports or by inserting the DVD you've recorded. Once you've downloaded the video from the camera, you can upload it to YouTube or bring it into an editing program to play with it some more.

If you have an analog camcorder (one that uses VHS, VHS-C, SVHS-C, 8mm, or Hi8 tape), you can still get your videos onto YouTube. It will require an extra step and some additional equipment, though, since these camcorders are not usually equipped with computer connections. You'll need to digitize the video with a converter box, which will convert the analog signal from the camcorder to a digital signal that the computer can understand. After the video has been digitized, you can manipulate it further or upload it. Regards!
