Cameras for youtube Music videos...?

Prince of

So I used to make solo music videos for youtube using my webcam. But now i've got myself into a band and we want to start making videos together. But we don't want to keep the same bad quality videos as I used to make. Basically we don't know what kind of camera to get. Preferably it would be HD. And obviously it would need to be of decent sound quality. We also are reasonably skint and although we could save for a bit we want to do this quite quickly so we don't want to have to spend to much. Anyone know of anything, thanks :).

Keep Smiling!

Answer
If you already have a digital camcorder (one that captures in Digital8, MiniDV, HDV, or any of the DVD formats), then you're ready to start shooting your masterpiece. Your camcorder will need some kind of direct connection to your computer, either to the USB or FireWire ports or by inserting the DVD you've recorded. Once you've downloaded the video from the camera, you can upload it to YouTube or bring it into an editing program to play with it some more.

If you have an analog camcorder (one that uses VHS, VHS-C, SVHS-C, 8mm, or Hi8 tape), you can still get your videos onto YouTube. It will require an extra step and some additional equipment, though, since these camcorders are not usually equipped with computer connections. You'll need to digitize the video with a converter box, which will convert the analog signal from the camcorder to a digital signal that the computer can understand. After the video has been digitized, you can manipulate it further or upload it. Regards!

if i record a video with a video camera, how do i upload it to youtube?

Hoz

Answer
What kind of video camera do you have?

If you have dvd type or Hard disk, normally when you upload it to your computer, youtube can open that. You do this by pressing upload, and find the stuff you uploaded from your video camera.

Unless you mini dv tapes. You have to open windows movie maker or any video editing software. Press capture from video device or something similar. On the camera, when you play, rewind until you find the parts you want to transfer to the computer. Then when you press capture from video device, record from camera, etcetera, as different programs say different things.

The upload to youtube is the same, but if you have minidv. You have to wait until the capture has finished and, wait until it's saved on your computer.

Then like with the first paragraph, press upload on youtube, and click the video you just saved on the PC.

Hopefully that helps

*To the user above me, it depends on the camera* With mine, when I've recorded. I have to capture using a video editing software. If it was DVD, or Hard disk where you can transfer, then fine. But if the person had a minidv camera, normally you have to capture using Movie Maker or any video software, because you cant transfer because the information is stored on tapes. So transferring them is harder

What are the best video cameras for filming YouTube videos for my blog?

best camera for video recording for youtube

best camera for video recording for youtube image

KellaBella

I'm looking for a decent video camera that I can use for recording YouTube videos on my blog/vlogs. It cant be anything really expensive. I will be sitting down for the most part so as long as the picture is clear, (even in low lighting settings) and has good clear audio that that will work. I heard that flip cams are decent, but Im not sure. I need help!!

Answer
When making this decision, it's good to know that you don't plan on hiking into the safari with your camera, but it's also important to think about your workflow. Choose something that's right for your computer system, and your level of expertise.

If you aren't entirely tech savvy and want a quick, streamlined process, I would recommend the Flip Cam, as you mentioned. I have used flip cams and they are VERY impressive. I know it's hard to imagine because they're so small, but the audio quality is very decent, and the video is nice HD resolution. The only problem that I've encountered, is that I bought my dad one of these when he still had an older computer and the HD resolution was too much for the old PC to handle. If you have an older computer, you will want to be sure and get a Standard Definition (SD) camera.

The two Canon cameras that Palladini mentioned are also really great, and I would recommend these if you're interested in doing more with your camera. When you aren't video blogging, recording home videos like birthdays or vacations can be some other reasons for investing in a good camera.

Some other cameras to look into:

Panasonic HDC-SD90
Sony Handycam
Canon HV20, HV30, or HV40

My bf plays for a band and I record with my kodak zd15. The sound sucks really bad. I need a nice camera that video records and has good audio for live band performance. I looked into the Mino HD 8GB Flip, I really liked the upload your own photo thing but it has a lot of downs.
Is the cannon sd1000 a better choice?
I need help.

Answer
Consumer-grade camcorders donât record audio very well especially music. Most have omni-directional microphones that tend to pick up all sound around the cam, like sound bouncing off walls, etc. And some are not even stereo mics. If your Kodak ZD15 is okay with the video imagery, then use a separate audio recorder which is the best way to record for music video projects. You did not state your budget but something like a Zoom H1 digital recorder ($99.00) and used with a quality microphone is the cheapest option. But better yet, something like the Zoom H4n or Tascam DR100 (both around $290.00). They can use two mics (and the two on-board mics) and the ability to balance up to 4 channels. The important part is the microphone and for a way to adjust the gain, as music will peak and fall throughout the performance, and each instrument has its own unique sound waves. Using ear-muff style headphones will allow you to listen more accurately what the mic(s) is picking up. You may be able to rent a recorder and try it out to see if it will work for you. Check with your local music instrument stores. If you still are leaning towards another camcorder, just make sure it has an external microphone port and headphone port.

What's the best point and shoot camera for video recording? Cash limit is $200. Thanks!

Answer
one of the better products in this price range is the Casio Exilim EX-Z80... it has a youtube capture (640x480 @30fps) ...it also records in a higher Wide VGA (848 x 480 @ 30 fps), perfect for watching video on a widescreen monitor or TV. and it records to the H.264/AVC AAC, MOV format... which will allow the video to be transfered to Apple multimedia devices directly without being re-encoded. There are a number of cameras that record video to other formats...such as MJPEG and Quicktime...but the audio portion is usually WAV... and that audio format uses up more space and conversion is needed when watching on PMP devices. Its currently on sale at B&H for $140. This camera is also not a slacker when it comes to other features , face detection, and image quality. Another nice unique feature for video fans is a dedicated Movie button. No need to dig though screen menus and you can go from shutter button to movie button instantly!
Good Luck and happy shooting

I think $100 range "Flip video" brand "mino" and "ultra" series camcorders are what you are looking for. The quality is not as good as modern full size camcorders but still a lot better than digi cams. They are very popular and you can get them from amazon.
