If you need good quality video you are better off looking at a camcorder that also takes good photos, these are far more common than digital cameras that take good video! The problem with still cameras taking video isn't the resolution, it's the focusing mechanism, it's just not fast enough (and in some cases is very noisy). Yes camcorders are bulkier, and the resolution is likely to be only around 7MP mark when taking stills (more than enough), but they are the far better option. You do need to remember though that you will probably get even better video if you opt for a camcorder that isn't so hot on still photography.

At the time I bought the Samsung it suited my needs better than anything else on the market at a sensible price, though very shortly after a better Panasonic model was released, and even better camcorders are now available. It's quite telling that at the time I bought this Sony (I'm a fan) didn't have anything even worth considering.

question about camera video recording?
Q. Ok so I have a question about my camera. I want to make a music video like people do on youtube, and so my question is that when you record your video, can you make it automacticly stop without pressing the button, like can you set a timer to stop recording or do you have to have somebody record it and stop the recording? Please answer!

their secret? They use NLE video editing software to make the music videos. Then you can set your camcorder up, turn it on, set the settings, set record and walk in front of you camcorder, shoot your flick, walk to camcorder , stop recording and turn it off. Now transfer video to computer, do what has to be done to get the transferred video file in a format your NLE can use. Open you NLE, if it is not already open doing the transfer and put your video on the timeline. cut the end and start few seconds of the video, do any other editing that needs to be done, like outakes and bad audio and such, insert any other video or photos that need to be in your flick. Most of all, Have FUN
