Best digital video camera for recording music?

Q. Hey guys I'm a singer and want to record my performances what camera has really high quality audio and picture not super expensive would be great thank you :)

Answer
HD camcorders interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi port processor computer with the big 1GB Graphics card and a Sound card that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files these camcorders produce.

Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes â four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video.

MiniDV is currently the most popular format for consumer digital camcorders. MiniDV camcorders are typically more affordable than their HDD and DVD counterparts. Each MiniDV tape will typically hold an hour of footage at normal recording speed and quality. MiniDV tapes are available for purchase at not only electronic and camera stores, but also at drugs stores and grocery stores, making them easy to find while your on vacation. There are literally hundreds of MiniDV camcorders available; both in standard and high-definition. And add the fact that to get a HD camcorder that could produce better video quality footage, one would have to spend in excess of $3500 for that camcorder that could produce higher quality video.

What is a good camera that can also record videos w/ sound?

me,myself,

I'm looking for my first camera. Just something that can take casual pictures and record videos w/ sound. Any suggestion on what models should I consider?

Answer
Hi,
I would get one with 3x optical zoom, because digital zoom just makes it blurry, the more you zoom. I would consider a Kodak, Sony, Canon, Olympus or HP. If you are going to buy them on eBay, stick to brand names you have heard of. Well, you can get good cameras on eBay that are unheard of, as long as they have good specifications.
I know someone who just got one, in store with a warranty, it's a Kodak 8.2 MP. It definitely works better than mine, because I only have digital zoom, and mine is 5 MP, it takes good pictures, if you're up close. The higher the optical zoom, the more you can zoom in further, with out it getting distorted. And the more MP, the more you can blow up your pictures on your computer, with out it getting distorted, and the more you can zoom into your pictures later, after it is on your computer. The Kodak 8.2 MP camera also has sound, with videos. It also has a function, where you can set it to fireworks, sunset, or text, if you are taking a picture with text in it. Also, it has digital image stabilization, if you tend to shake the camera a lot. I would recommend it. But there are so many models, and brands, that pretty much most of them are the same. Just as long as they have good specifications. Digital cameras have been coming down greatly in price the past few years.
So since this is your first camera, I would get an 8 mega pixel, because you don't want to keep buying another camera, year after year, when they keep improving.
If you go to an electronics store, they will help you find one that will fit your needs. Hope that helps. Josh
