Camera vs. Camcorder for 1080p video recording.?

Q. If a camera records in 1080p and so does a camcorder which one is better to use?

Answer
A camcorder is. Reason. A camcorder will not overheat in about 20 minutes as a DSLR camera would. Once that camera overheats, it is not usable until it cools down, often the next day. But that said, I would not get either the camera or camcorder, because both these devices interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly, the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. HD camcorders interpolate the video, which means of every 25 frames of video, 4 or 5 frames are taken by the lens assembly; the other frames in between these are filled in by the camcorder inner circuitry, thus giving you not true video. It looks like this -one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, one frame from the lens assembly, 7or 8 from the electronic circuitry, from front to back of the video. Near impossible to edit, even when you have the Multi processor computer with the big Graphics and sound cards that is required to edit, view, watch and work with the files a HD camcorder produces.

If I were to shoot a Video, I would use a MiniDV tape camcorder. To get a HD camcorder that could equal or better the video quality of that MiniDV tape camcorder, you would have to spend in excess of $3300 to find that HD camcorder that could do that.

Camera (dslr?) with 1080p+ video recording? 10 points!?

Q. So I am planning on getting a camera that has not only amazing quality in photos, but fantastic quality in video recording. (Somewhat like Bethany mota's camcorder.) I was considering the canon t4i but then it takes awhile to autofocus while recording and taking pictures.

I'm looking for a camera that has preferably 16mp+ and 1080p++ with quick auto focus. Is there such a camera out there? If so, please leave the name below! I also have a price range... I can't buy anything above $1,000. Thanks!

I'm also more looking into with both capabilities. Something like a DSLR. Thanks!

Answer
sorry. you can get digital cameras that take great photos and crummy video. or you can get camcorders that get great video and poor photos. there is no middle ground cameras. part of the problem lies in the CCD itself. Still cameras use a single CCD sensor with a Bayer pseudo random color filter. this system is exceptionally poorly suited to video which scans the image rather than taking a frame at once. Up scale camcorders use 3 CCD to get perfectly scanned color resolution. but this same scanning structure does not lend itself to still photos, or use with flash.

decide what is important and hope that camera makes reasonable compromises in the other areas.
