Can You Record Videos With An SLR Camera?

Lily Rose

I am not a professional photographer, so please don't get mad at me if this is a dumb question. What SLR cameras do you recommend- which takes great videos and is reasonably priced?
Thanks for all of your answers. They were really helpful.

Answer
I am a Nikon users, and I would recommend you the new Nikon D5000 for beginner or maybe even the Nikon D90.

Both are very good camera and the Nikon D90 shoot HD video...

digital slr camera with hd recording under $600?

John

i am looking for a digital slr camera with a lens that is high definition and films at 60fps for under $600??
i wanted to be able to film at 60fps so i could do slo motion and twixtor
i had a camcorder but i want to upgrade to a digital slr

Answer
How about $650? A Nikon D5100 will shoot video at Full HD, but not at 60 fps. For that you need to up your budget to around $800.

Why do you think you need 60 fps? Internet gossip?

If you are still interested in shooting video, look for a real video camera. dSLR's are primarily still cameras with a video feature.

You need to spend some time deciding what you want in the way of a video camera and either choose a real video camera or be satisfied with what dSLR cameras can produce.
