Would you be so kind as to explain in laymen's terms which of these 3 which is the best AND WHY??
USES of this purchase would be: simple family photos, everyday use. Holidays, vacations, sport pictures, etc. LOVE the Fancy features of the biggest one, but the zoom is SO limited (3X) and NO Video :( Thoughts??

Answer
You listed the same model twice. Digital SLRs are basically manual cameras, you have complete control over every aspect of your image. The downside is that unlike a regular point and shoot, depending on what kind of picture you want to take you might have to fiddle with a bunch of options on the camera to make the picture come out correctly. You can add external flashes, and change the lenses, there are hundreds of lenses you can purchase that will fit on it. So for everyday photos and vacations I wouldn't want to carry one around, although people do. They are bulky, heavy cameras, and theft magnets.

Most DSLRs don't record video, only the newest ones can record video, but you are going to pay $1000+

The Canon Powershot is an automatic camera, meaning that it is meant to be as a point and shoot. You can of course fiddle around and adjust certain things about a picture before you take it, but not have as much control as a DSLR.

So for you I would choose the Powershot, it is a somewhat compact camera, it has a decent 10x zoom, which is rare for a compact camera these days, most are 3x. Do be warned that this won't fit in your pocket, if you want something that will fit in your pocket look at the Powershot elph line from Canon. Don't worry about which model, just make sure it has SDxxx IS in the name, xxx is numbers. I have the SD770IS, which is really nice. The IS stands for Image Stabilization, which makes your shots clearer without using a tripod.

What are some digital cameras that can also record videos?

Q. Like, at least a video thats 5 mmin. long. ya i know depenging on the memory.
Cuz i got DV304 canon today. its so cheap and ugly. 10 secs of vid and idk. i dont like it.

i need a small digital camera that can record videos too. small size of course. and slim and thin. w/e.

kk thnx!

Answer
I got the canon SD 750 about a week ago, and I love it compared to the previous cameras that I have owned. I bought it because of the high review rates for the price of $299. One of the many great features is it take 1 second to turn on, and your ready to take a picture, so you can almost instintly take a picture, once you know your subject. It also has great features like color accent mode or color switch mode. Well, the movie feature that you are wondering about, depends on the amount of memory that you have. You can also use a sd card and it can hold well over 1,000 pics with a 2 gig SD card. It can aso take well over 20min of video with the same card. This card can cost about $45. The camera itself is really small and thin, for all the features it has. You can download pics to your computer by using mini usb cable included with the camera. Overall I think this camera would be perfect for tourism, sport events, events, and protraits.
