Answer
The cheapest Canon is the $3300 XF100 About the same price as a 5Dm2 with lens and is a significant step up in video quality.

I did not see a Sony that got the Canon's 50mbps anywhere close to the Canon's price, I'm not familiar with Sony's website layout and marketing though, so I may have missed something there.

New? I agree with Lare, spend the little extra walk into a camera shop or use a well rated on-line store. Used, ebay or amazon is fine, I have had good luck going used, just don't get in a hurry, check the return policy, know the camera's story and save enough that you can get new batteries(s) and have the camera cleaned and tested.

If u already have a digital camera that can do full hd 1080p video recording, do you need to buy a camcorder?

Answer
a plain digital camera can only record video for a short period of time, 10 to 12 minutes is common for 1080p. if you need to document events like weddings, plays, sports, or music sets at a concert, it would not be a wise choice. camcorders are design for unlimited shooting. most digital cameras are awkward to hold steady for anytime at all, you don't notice that when snapping still shots, but it becomes obvious the first time you try and shoot video. camcorders are balanced weight.
