Cheap Camera for recording video games?

Now i've been googling the same thing but everyone says to use a capture card. The thing is, i want to record gameplay AND commentary that is live. Darksydephil whom does this uses a camera that costs $350 and i can not afford to spend even near that.
If possible i would like a camera that can charge (use power from an outlet) and record at the same time so i don't have to re-charge the battery.
Yes, i understand that i would need to point a camera straight towards my tv on a tri-pod that is what i plan on doing, I just need to find a cheap camera that can do the job with semi decent quality videos and semi decent mic.

Cameras don't record video from a television or game screen, for that you'd need a link to a video recorder like the cable companies use.

With a camera you'd need a tripod and have to point the camera at the screen and roll video... that's the only way a camera will do it.

Are you pointing a video camera at the TV? If you are, then it's pretty normal to get either weird shading or some sort of shady bar scrolling through the screen. It's just the peculiar way TVs output their signal and how video cameras record it. Have a read of this article, it has a few solutions:

I want to record my xbox 360 game footage and i recently found out u can do that by using a video camera. I have the camera that has the A/V out input that i plug into the RCA couplers (female to female). then i wondering do i just plug in my xbox cables to a female to female RCA Coupler then get two double connecters and connect my camera cables to that and then a seperate set of cables from the tv to the RCA Couplers? also i forgot to mention in response to the first answer i dont have alot of money so this would prob be the cheapest way for me to do this. i would love to get a dazzle but its to much for me right now.

This is a toughie! The problem is, your video camera samples at a consistent rate, and the TV refreshes at a consistent rate. So what you get is called a "beat frequency" - kind of like looking at a fan going really fast when it looks like it's moving slowly.

There are two ways to get rid of the line:

1) Some cameras have randomizers to enable videotaping a TV screen like this, to eliminate the beat frequency, or

2) Adjust your video camera's sample rate (or screen's refresh rate) until you get an acceptable picture. It's really hard to get it to STOP, it's easier to set them to be very different and minimize interference that way.

Alright I would like to do a gaming walkthrough for Youtube and I need a good camera that records T.V. decently and is see-able and has good audio. I can spend around 150-160 on a camera but It needs to work with a 1997 Dell :o.

Please make sure you know what your talking about please, don't just put random cameras that you have no clue about. Just make sure It can record off a 28' inch tv and picks up audio good.

you could pick any cheap cameras and split the signal from your console to run to your tv and camera and record off it. you could also add in a mic to record sound simultaneously

The camcorder needs to have the AV-in feature. If it does not have AV-in, there is no cable that can make it have AV-in. Basically, you would need three "Y" cables... one end plugs into the game console (one for video, one for right audio, one for left audio). One end plugs into the TV. One end plugs into the camcorder with AV-in.

Rather than a camcorder, you can use a TV capture card or "analog/digital bridge" (like those from Pinnacle - Dazzle - or Canopus) and connect directly to your computer.

Record game play, then transfer file from DVR to computer.
