What is a good digital video camera for recording piano playing?

Luna

For youtube and stuff. I have a normal piano not an electric one. I also want to use the camera for recording sports and stuff. I want the sound on the piano to not be distorted like it is on most cameras and I want the sound to sound like it really does. Thanks. I would prefer that it was under $200. THANKS!!!!!

Answer
Any kind of Point & Shoot camera would fit your shooting style and price range.

Look for:
Canon Powershot
Nikon Coolpix
Sony Cybershot

Good luck!

Recording piano videos for YouTube?

Video camera suggestions if I plan to record videos of me playing piano?

I'm considering getting a flip - how's the sound quality?

Answer
Camcorder Mic's are not the greatest for recreating good quality audio, they pick up everything not what you want. you are better off to buy a camcorder that his an mic input, and use a quality mic, that, if by chance you are using a electronic keyboard, then take the output of that and record it directly to your computer, at the start play a single note, this will give you a peak that you can use to sync the video to the audio. drop the video into your timeline (editing software) and the recorded audio mute the audio from the camera. now you have good quality audio, providing you have the levels set correctly.

I dont think that a flip camera is going to be up to the audio part, the video should be fine as long as there is enough lighting.

If you are on a limited budget then obviously you will have to make do, limiting the amount of audio the camera's mic picks up will help you a lot. covering the mic with foam may help is there are no audio controls on the camera.

Good luck
